First, let me introduce a charming little family adventure—pack up a picnic and wander down to Ennis, Texas, where rolling hills of bluebonnets put on their most dazzling show. With over 40 miles of mapped trails to explore, it’s a choose-your-own-path kind of day, especially magical during the Bluebonnet Trails Festival each April when the whole town blooms right along with the flowers. 🌿💙

Bluebonnet Trail Greenbelt in Plano Texas –

The bluebonnet trail runs from Central Express way to Midway Road then continues along Spring Creek Parkway and Chase Oaks Boulevard. The best spot are along Spring Creek and Custer Road behind the 711. You can also park near the new Jack Carter park and pool, then stroll along the trail to find the bluebonnets. The link to Plano Parks and Rec more info HERE

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano – on the east side of town along Spring Creek Parkway by the amphitheater.  Here is the City of Plano website!

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano

This lovely park and preserve often finds its way onto bluebonnet lists—and while you can spot a few blooms, they tend to appear in small patches tucked close to the roadside, which isn’t the most ideal (or safest) setting for little ones. Here’s hoping that one day the bluebonnets feel inspired to wander a bit deeper into the meadow and truly stretch their legs. 🌿💙

Bethany Drive Median in Allen – A little friendly heads up =. parking here can be tricky, Be careful parking your car here, as the police occasionally swing by to ask cars to move along.  It’s best to park in one of the nearby neighborhood and walk in. It’s also worth noting this spot sits right in the median between two busy roads, so for those with little ones in tow, you might find more peaceful (and safer) patches of blooms elsewhere.🌿💙

Freedom Meadow at Warren Sports Complex has a five acre pollinator habitat.   Freedom Meadow is named in memory of those we lost on September 11, 2001.  It is planted by the Frisco Garden Club, and It’s on my list to go by and take some photos.

Myers Park and Event Center – Mckinney

Wildflower season makes its grand, fleeting appearance from late March through mid-April—nature’s little pop-up show, entirely dependent on how generous the fall and spring rains have been.

For photographers and mamas chasing those magical moments, the sweetest light tiptoes in just after sunrise and lingers again about an hour before sunset—soft, glowy, and oh-so-forgiving.

And like any good fairytale, each year tells a slightly different story: some fields burst into a sea of color, while others keep things a bit more understated than seasons past.  Please avoid stepping on bluebonnets as a live plant will go to seed for next year!
