My Lens Baby/ Big Bend gals and I drove out from Plano, Texas, all the way to Albany, Texas to the Ft. Griffin State Historic Site.

This place has been on my bucket list since 2016, finally got there in 2021!  Our family had moved to The Woodlands and it was a 6 hour drive so not happening.  In 2019,  we moved back to the Dallas area, but at that time this site was closed to night sky photographers, as some people were misbehaving and driving across grassy meadows and littering.

Luckily a local photographer was able to give access to a few photographer in group – I am so thankful.

Ft. Griffin State Historic Site.  A U.S. Calvary site was established in July 31, 1867.  The stone structures were built to give settlers protection from early Commanche and Kiowa Raids. (cr: Wikipedia).

We’ve had a ton of rain here recently, so this field was full of mosquitos at dusk.  So many the they were still biting us even with bug spray on.  The pretties thing besides the sparking night sky was the incredible amounts of fireflies – the filed nearby were literally sparkling with fireflies.

This is a stacked image so I am working to improve my Milky Way shots each time I shoot.
